Alphonse Mucha Collection
Alfons Maria Mucha (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939) or Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech painter and decorative artist. Highly gifted, his singing talents supported him through high school in Brno, Morovian capital and later he was able to pursue his first love in Paris in decorative and drawing arts. The Mucha Style was a phenomenal success and became known as Art Nouveau (French for “new art”). Mucha’s artworks frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing, vaguely Neoclassical-looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers and vines which sometimes formed halos behind their heads. His artworks are distinctly different often with the use of pale pastel colors as opposed to many poster artist of the time. On 1 January 2010, Mucha’s published works went out of copyright and entered the public domain.
