Charles Robinson Illustrations
Born into The Golden Age of Illustration in London, Charles Robinson (1870 – 1937) was a British illustrator and also the brother of W Heath Robinson. Charles Robinson Illustrations and lifeworks focused on Fairy Tales and Children’s story books (listed below). Raised in a family of artists, engravers and following the footsteps of his father, grandfather and brothers, Charles Robinson apprenticed with a book binder and printer company working on lithographic stones and techniques before went on to publish his first works at the age of 25 . Robert Louis Stevenson’s A Child’s Garden of Verses (1895) which includes over 100 pen and ink drawings, it was extremely popular, going through many reprints, and generated numerous commissions. Robinson was also an active painter and was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 1932. Charles Robinson passed away unexpectedly when he was 66.
