Arthur Rackham
Arthur Rackham (1867 – 1939) was an Englishman born in Lewisham, England and was a famous book illustrator in the era of Golden Age of Illustrations. Arthur Rackham Illustrations and style is often described as a strange beautiful mix of European Nordic style and the Japanese woodblock art of the early 19th century. Arthur Rackham got his start in the industry around the age of 25 years old and since then book illustrating became his life long career. Some of his first ever published works were To the Other Side by Thomas Rhodes (1893), and The Dolly Dialogues, the collected sketches of Anthony Hope (1894). Arthur Rackham Illustrations have also become very popular after his death, both in North America and Britain. His images have been widely used by the greeting card industry and many of his books are still in print and available in both paperback and hardback editions. His original drawings and paintings are keenly sought at the major international art auction houses.
